Philip William Andrews ("Phil") born 17 Jan 1933 in Decatur; died 10 Nov 1987 in Houston, TX; married Marjorie Ann Johnstone ("Marge") on 24 June 1955 in Decatur: born 14 Feb 1932 in Hinsdale, IL; died 14 Dec 1983 in San Antonio, TX. They had five children.

Phil's destiny was set, by him, in the womb. He was exceptionally bright and highly accomplished. While in Roosevelt Junior High School (probably 7th or 8th grade) he scratch-built a balsa wood scale railroad trestle as an example of geometry in architecture. It was still in use by the math teachers for many years. When he  was in Decatur High School, he built a Geiger counter at the work bench of the 820 house. When he was at Millikin University in the pre-med program, he hand built a heart resuscitator unit for dogs. Phil was a Master Counselor in DeMolay - the highest office in that organization. He graduated from the four year pre-med program at Millikin in just three. He attended the medical doctor program at University of Illinois, Chicago, Il ... and while there, to occupy his spare time, he was the fire marshal at a local theatre. He also joined the United States Air Force Reserves as a prelude to active duty when he graduated from UofI Med School. Among his military duties, he was a flight surgeon and commanding officer of a hospital in Thailand. He retired in San Antonio, Texas. Among his many hobbies was observing train operations and collecting "interesting" names of people. Phil had a razor-sharp ... and frequently wry ... sense of humor: examples.

Marge was the PERFECT complement to Phil in every facet of their married lives. She was a Home Economics major at Millikin and met Phil while there. She taught Home Economics in Chicago while Phil attended University of Illinois Medical School. Marge was highly talented in many areas and took enormous pride in the Family events for all their kids. And her sense of humor, always original, matched Phil's.

Both Marge and Phil  were Executive Vice Presidents Emeritus in the Stonefield Valley Railroad link.
