The Neely Family

LN1: - 1 L-R: Jill, Phil, Sally, Lois and Matt

Lois Lynne Neely born 26 June 1961 in Freeport, Illinois. She is the third of three in her family. Lois has many special talents ... of particular note is her hobby with flowers. Lois has always had a special affinity with animals, talking with the family dogs and riding her horse, Daisy. She and her brother, Matt, both started riding about age 3 on the farm. After Lois graduated from Jefferson High School in 1979, she attended one year at George Fox College in Newburg OR. She was picked to join the college group of students for a ten-day European trip, with the highlight being the Passion Play, performed every ten years in Oberammergau, Germany. After one term at Chemeketa Community College, Lois followed her brother and sister into the United States Marine Corps, rising to rank of Lance Corporal (LCpl) in the Marine Corps Reserves.  In recent years Lois has become a master at crocheting, making many beautiful items and sharing with family members. Being a frequent visitor at the library in the college town where she lives feeds her habit as an avid reader. Lois's interest in cooking has her trying new recipes and when Jill visits they often enjoy cooking together, sharing tips and ideas. With spring arriving, Lois makes the local Farmer's Market a frequent stop gathering fresh produce to use in her cooking.

Lois Lynne Neely

Born in Freeport IL June 26, 1961, home for my first five years was on a dairy farm near Pecatonica IL. My family moved to Oregon in 1967 and growing up in the country gave me a chance to have lots of pets. We had the usual dogs, cats, horses, and rabbits,  but  I also raised  and exhibited sheep and my horse at county and state fairs throughout my junior and senior high school. Part time and summer work at the State Department of Revenue helped fund one year at George Fox College, a Christian college, in Newburg OR. I enjoyed a 12 day European tour with the group from George Fox.  The Passion Play at Oberammergau was a memorable part of my trip.

The next year I attended Chemeketa Community College, as it was closer to home and I could commute. Following the example of my sister and brother, I enlisted in the Marine Corps, as a reservist. I attended boot camp at Paris Island SC and office training at Camp Pendleton CA.

Currently I enjoy my apartment in Corvallis, Oregon, walking, reading, cooking, bike riding and visits from my Mom and sister, Jill.  I'm grateful for the support of my family, friends and caseworkers.
