Jimmy Peabody died crossing the train track in Blue Mound by a
Wabash passenger train. It was a cold day and he had the side
curtains closed on his buggy and didn't hear the train coming. It
was his mother who died a few months after Jimmy's birth, never
recovering from giving birth in 1844 and his father died a few
minutes later from exhaustion after going thru snow and blizzard to
get the doctor. James, his older brother and two sisters were raised
by relatives. |
