Biography

Bud B. Spellman, of Decatur, was absent from the body and present with the Lord on November 8, 2009 from Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He leaves behind those he dearly loved: his wife: Benita of Decatur, children: Cindy Hardcastle and husband Dean of Black Canyon City, AZ. and granddaughter: Rachel Hardcastle of Glendale, AZ., Scott Spellman and his wife Carol of Clinton and grandchildren: Kendra, Cami, Kelly, Chrissy and Mitchell, Randy Spellman and his wife Shirley of Dupo, and Buddy Spellman of Decatur, sister: Rose Knott and her husband Bill of Decatur and four great grandchildren.

Bud’s greatest joy in life was teaching God’s word and greeting those who came thru the door at church on Sunday. Also working at the Good Samaritan Inn as a volunteer with all of the other workers and volunteers. He loved every soul that came thru that door for a meal.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Thomas Wayne Spellman, Jack Lee Spellman and his son: Curt Wayne Spellman.

In lieu of services and flowers, etc. donations are suggested to the Good Samaritan Inn, God’s Shelter of Love or New Beginnings Church all of Decatur. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Online condolences and memories can be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.

He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Proverbs 3: 5-7

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

And lean not on your own understanding;

In all your ways acknowledge Him,

And He shall direct your paths.

Do not be wise in your own eyes;

Fear the Lord and depart from evil...."
