It Was a Disaster!!!
It was terrible: between late March and 9 April, enormous winds blew through the Stonefield Valley area and completely took out the entire railroad between Sallytoon and Binghamburg! Nothing left except the track work. Quick thinking by the General Superintendent followed this stuff as far south as Marysville, Pa. He lost sight of it going southwest. There are solid suspicions that much of the stuff ended up in Roanoke, Va, Augusta, Ga and the rest in San Antonio, Tx. The SVRR is just a memory in the company of other great fallen flag railroads.

Bev and Manvell are my friends. Don was the Vintner for Manvell Wine of Rome, Pennsylvania. Bev and Don were both officers in the SVRR - link |
This was an original painting for Manvell Wine by William M. Andrews, Professor at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta. The original hangs in the home of Manvell Wine Vintner, Don and Bev Manvell. |
The End ... or maybe not?
